Does this generator give me a GS1-owned UPC number?
No. It does not assign a GTIN or license a number to you. A new retail UPC/EAN number has to come from GS1 or a licensed GS1 number or prefix. For an existing product, use the number correctly assigned by its brand owner. See GS1 US's explanation.
Will a valid check digit make a number legitimate?
No. It checks the arithmetic, not ownership, allocation or a product database record.
Can I make many labels?
Use the bulk barcode page to prepare a list carefully before generating a batch. One format per batch; up to 200 non-empty records; PDF uses one label per page.
Which formats are supported?
UPC-A, EAN-13, Code 128, Code 39 and ISBN-13 (drawn as EAN-13). ISBN-13 only for book identifiers here — no separate QR tool on this site.
